Linear Quasi-chirp-free Tuning of Fiber Grating with Torsional Beam

Abstract
A new method of linear tuning for fiber grating with the torsional beam is reported for the first time to our knowledge. The theoretical analyses and the experimental results show that the Bragg wavelength change is linear to the torsional angle and the torque when the torsional strain of the torsional beam is very small. The linear quasi-chirp-free tuning of the fiber grating can be realized when the range of the torsional angle of the column beam is between -45°and +45°and the wavelength range of linear tuning is not less than 7 nm. Tuning sensitivities are 0.0867 nm/degree and 6.27 nm/Nm, respectively.
