Abstract
A new method is presented to generate a dark hollow beam by LP01 mode in a micron-sized hollow optical fiber(HOF). The principle to generate a dark hollow beam is analyzed theoretically in detail. It has been shown that the output beam of LP01 mode is a dark hollowdivergent beam, and the relative far-field divergent angle is related to the structure of optical fiber. The experimental results are given also. Complete agreement between our theory and experiment outcome is obtained. In addition, the potential applications of a dark hollow beam in atom optics are discussed.
