Abstract
A new method of population transfer in an atomic vapor through the trapped state of a three-level system coupled with two ew lasers is proposed. Employing two singlemode dye lasers interacting with 238U atomic vapor in a hollow-cathode discharge tube, it has been demonstrated experimentally that the method has an obvious effect on the population of the three-level Λ system.
