Passive Q-switching of Pulsed and CW Nd:YAG Lasers with Cr4+:YAG

Abstract
Performance of Cr4+:YAG as passive Q-switches for both pulsed and CW Nd:YAG lasers was reported. Stable single smooth 150 ns wide pulse was generated when pulsed Nd:YAG laser was Q-switched. In CW case, pulse train with. 0. 3~0. 4 W average power and 3. 0~6. 7 kHz repetition rate was obtained. The relationship between pump level of CW Nd:YAG laser and pulse characteristics such as pulse width, pulse peak power and repetition rate is revealed.
