Effects of He-Ne laser irradiation at acupuncture points on steroid hormone receptors of uteri in rabbits

Abstract
This paper reports the biological effects of He-Ne laser irradiation on acupuncture points (acupoints) in the rabbits, and analysis the changes of steroid hormone receptors in uteri. From the uteri of the treated rabbits, the contents of Estradiol Receptor (ER) and Progesterone Receptor (PR) had been studied by the method of dextran-coated charcoal assay (DCC). Comparing with the controlled group, the concentrations of the ER and PR would be higher after laser irradiation. ER would rose 1.7-3.2-fold and PR 2.7-3.7-fold (P<0.05, P<0.01). The experiment showed that stimulation by He-Ne laser could raise the concentration of steroid hormone receptors, and enhance the metabolism on the receptor level.
