摘要
提出一个基于级联铌酸锂泡克耳斯效应的偏振转换器。偏振转换器由3个附有横向电极的铌酸锂晶体组成,通过调节3个外加电场可以将任意偏振态的入射光转换为任何想要的偏振态的光输出。利用线性电光效应的折射率椭球和耦合波理论研究入射光通过偏振转换器的偏振态变化,并举例说明偏振转换器如何将某一椭圆偏振光转换为任意偏振角的线偏振光、右(或左)旋圆偏振光和任意椭圆率的椭圆偏振光。
Abstract
A polarization converter based on cascaded transverse Pockels effect is presented. It consists of three lithium niobate crystals with external electric fields perpendicular to the light propagating direction. The refractive index ellipsoid theory and wave coupling theory for Pockels effect are employed to study the process of light propagating along the crystals. The study demonstrates that the polarization converter can transform an arbitrary polarized light to any desired polarized light by varying the three external electric fields. The examples to transform an arbitrary light to a linearly polarized light,a circularly polarized light and a desired elliptically polarized light are given.
