Theoretical analysis of a novel compound ring resonator
摘要
文章基于环形谐振腔所具有的非线性相位传输特性,提出了一种新型的动态光谱滤波器结构,它将全通环形谐振腔调相器接入平衡马赫-曾德干涉仪,实现复合结构的动态滤波特性。与传统的马赫-曾德干涉仪相比,此复合滤波结构可利用远小于π的相移调整实现输入光信号的开关,因此,在提高开关速度、降低调相器功耗等方面具有重要的应用价值。
Abstract
Based on the nonlinear phase transmission characteristics of the ring resonator, a novel dynamic spectral filter structure is proposed, in which an all-pass ring resonator is coupled onto each arm of a symmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer, realizing the dynamic filtering characteristics of the compound structure. Compared with the conventional symmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer, this compound optical filter can be used to fabricate optical signal switches with much less power consumption. Thus, it will find important applications in increasing the switch and reducing the power consumption of phase modulators.
