Dynamic Backlight Adaptation Based on Local Mean and Standard Deviation for LCD
摘要
为了在降低液晶显示器背光功耗的同时能够保持图像质量,提出了基于局部均值和标准差的LCD背光调制算法。该算法能有效降低低对比度和较暗区域的背光亮度,提高图像的对比度,并保证高对比度和较亮区域的图像质量。对背光信号进行了保值平滑处理,使每个区域与周围区域之间能够平滑过渡,整幅图像视觉上更加柔和。
Abstract
In order to cut down the power consumption of LCD backlight and maintain the image quality, a modulation algorithm based on Local Mean (LM) and Local Standard Deviation (LSD) is proposed. The algorithm can dim the luminance of backlight effectively in dark and low contrast blocks and maintain the image quality in the bright and high contrast blocks. Meanwhile, backlight signals are smoothed to ensure smooth transition between each region and its surrounding regions,which makes images downy on the vision.
