摘要
加热单模光纤可以增大光纤等效纤芯半径,进而增大单模光纤的模场。根据粒子扩散方程建立了加热扩芯光纤的理论模型,并对其模场特性进行了数值分析。对两种单模光纤进行了加热扩芯技术实验研究,将模场直径增大3倍左右。监测了加热扩芯带来的损耗,实验发现掺杂浓度更高的单模光纤加热扩芯损耗更小。
Abstract
By heating single-mode fibers, the effective core radius can be enlarged which leads to a larger mode field. A theory model is built for thermally expanded core (TEC) fibers by diffusion equation and the mode field properties are given in numerical results. Experiments of TEC technique are carried out by two kinds of single-mode fibers and the mode field diameters (MFDs) of them are about threefold enlarged. The losses for TEC technique are measured and it is found that fiber with higher germanium-doped concentration has a lower loss.
