Abstract
In recent years, "virtual reality" has been more and more popular and brought with it an unprecedented fantastic user experience. Panorama video, as one of the main construction ways of virtual reality, on account of its good user experience and human-computer interaction ability, has been widely used in many fields, such as medical, entertainment, education and industrial design. With the increasing demands for good user experience, how to ensure the user experience of panorama video in various applications now becomes the next hot topic. In this paper, we proposed a panoramic video display system based on the HTC Vive platform. The relationship between the number of patches of the sphere used for rendering and the subjective quality of the panoramic video is analyzed by subjective experiment. The result indicates that for 720 P, 1 080 P and 4K videos, when the number of patches is smaller than 64, the subjective video quality has a positive correlation with it. When the number of patches exceeds 64, the subjective quality will be determined by the video parameters. The proposed panoramic video display system and the relevant conclusions can provide effective suggestions for the subsequent research and application development of panoramic video.
