基于光学tamm态的石墨烯光开关的研究

摘要
提出了一种基于光学tamm态(OTS)的石墨烯光开关方案。在该方案中,利用在金属-分布式布拉格反射镜界面处产生的OTS,以及石墨烯的电控特性,通过改变外加电压来改变石墨烯的折射率,使OTS的本征波长发生漂移,光的反射率由最低点上升至高反射区,从而实现光开关的通断控制。利用有限元法和时域有限差分法对提出的光开关进行了仿真研究。研究结果表明,当入射波长为846.5 nm时,可以实现光开关,其插入损耗为0.88 dB,消光比约为12.7 dB,响应时间约为1.36 ps。该光开关具有插入损耗低和响应时间快的优势,在未来的光通信系统和光信息处理系统中具有很好的应用前景。
Abstract
An optical switching scheme of graphene based on Optical Tamm States (OTS) is proposed. In this scheme, the OTS are generated at the interface between the metal and the Distributed Bragg Reflection (DBR) using the electronic properties of graphene. The intrinsic wavelength of OTS shifts and the reflectivity of light rises from the lowest point to a high reflection region. By changing the applied voltage, the optical switch can be achieved. The proposed optical switch is simulated by using the Finite Element Method (FEM) and the Time Domain Finite Difference (FDTD) method. The results show that when the incident wavelength is 846.5 nm, the optical switch can be achieved. The insertion loss of the optical switch is 0.88 dB with extinction ratio of 12.7 dB and response time of 1.31 ps. The optical switch has the advantages of low insertion loss and fast response time. It has a good application prospect in the future optical communication system and the optical information processing system.
