电场频率对可双频驱动蓝相液晶温域及电光性能的影响
Influence of electric field frequency on the blue phase temperature range and electro-optical property of dual-frequency-driven blue phase liquid crystal materials
摘要
为了制备快速响应的蓝相(BP)液晶电光器件, 并研究其在不同电场频率下的响应, 本文首先合成了双频液晶分子(DFLC), 将其加入蓝相母体液晶中, 得到了可双频驱动的蓝相液晶(DF-BPLC)材料。利用偏光显微镜(POM)在不同频率的电场下观察其织构及相变行为, 通过添加DFLC, 可以调控BP温域。在低频电场下, 由于电场取向作用及DFLC的弯曲结构和挠曲电效应可使得BP温域得到拓宽。但在高频电场下, BP温域有所减小。所制备DF-BPLC材料既具有频率响应特性又具有优异的电光性能, 在光电器件中有很好的应用前景。
Abstract
In order to obtain fast response electro-optic devices, a dual-frequency-driven blue phase liquid crystal (DF-BPLC) was obtained through preparing dual-frequency liquid crystal molecules and adding into a blue phase host. The texture and phase transition behavior of the DF-BPLC were observed by polarizing microscopy (POM) at different electric field frequencies, and it was found that it could have a great influence on the temperature range of blue phase (BP). Under low frequency electric field, the BP temperature range of DF-BPLC can be broadened under the effects of electric field orientation, bending structure and flexoelectricity of DFLC. The prepared DF-BPLC material exhibits not only frequency responsive characteristic, but also excellent electro-optic property, which may have great application prospects in optoelectronic devices.
