光学各向异性聚合物分散液晶特性研究

摘要
研究了聚合物与液晶比例、液晶性能对PDLC雾度、驱动电压、响应速度的影响。发现降低液晶含量、增加液晶在聚合物中的溶解度可使相分离形成百纳米级甚至更小的液晶微滴, 此时PDLC在不加电状态下呈现光学各向同性, 施加横向电场可产生双折射效应。由此提出了一种配合偏光片的新显示模式。通过液晶比例的调整和液晶种类的优选制备出了驱动电压较低, 对比度为58.5, 响应时间为14 ms的样品。
Abstract
The effects of liquid crystal content and liquid crystal properties on the PDLC haze, driving voltage and response time were studied. It is found that reducing the liquid crystal content and increasing solubility of liquid crystal in polymer could get small liquid crystal droplets in PDLC, whose size is hundred nanometers or even smaller. At this time PDLC film is optically isotropic without electric field, while this PDLC film has birefringence with transverse electric field. A new PDLC display mode with polarizer was proposed. By adjusting the type and content of liquid crystal, a display sample was prepared, of which drive voltage is low, contrast ratio is 58.5,and response time is 14 ms.
