综述了近期基于腔内空间光调制器的超快光纤激光器的研究进展,总结了目前基于腔内空间光调制器的超快光纤激光器所能实现的基本功能和输出特性,同时介绍了本课题组基于腔内空间光调制器的研究成果,最后对腔内空间光调制器驱动的超快光纤激光器的发展趋势和应用前景进行了展望。

超快光纤激光器具有紧凑性高、光束质量佳、散热性好等优点,是一种极具发展潜力的激光光源。工作波长作为超快光纤激光器的重要参数,在一定程度上决定了激光器的应用领域。近年来,得益于1.7 μm波段的独特光谱特性,1.7 μm波段超快光纤激光器在生物医学、聚合物加工、光学成像等领域具有重要的应用价值。因此,研制高性能的1.7 μm波段超快光纤激光器成为激光领域的研究热点之一。文中综述了近期1.7 μm波段超快光纤激光器的研究进展,对目前获得1.7 μm波段超短脉冲的不同方式进行总结,分析其技术特点;同时,介绍了笔者所在课题组报道的1.7 μm波段耗散孤子超快光纤激光器及其放大系统的研究成果,概述了其工作原理、技术难点;最后,对1.7 μm波段超快光纤激光的应用前景及发展趋势进行了展望。

We report Q-switched mode-locked (QML) pulses generation in an Yb-doped multimode fiber (MMF) laser by using a graphene-deposited multimode microfiber (GMM) for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. The single-wavelength QML operation with the central wavelength tunable from 1028.81 nm to 1039.20 nm and the dual-wavelength QML operation with the wavelength spacing tunable from 0.93 nm to 5.79 nm are achieved due to the multimode interference filtering effect induced by the few-mode fiber and MMF structure and the GMM in the cavity. Particularly, in the single-wavelength QML operation, the fifth harmonic is also realized owing to the high nonlinear effect of the GMM. The obtained results indicate that the QML pulses can be generated in the MMF laser, and such a flexible tunable laser has promising applications in optical sensing, measuring, and laser processing.

High-repetition-rate (HRR) pulsed fiber lasers have attracted much attention in various fields. To effectively achieve HRR pulses in fiber lasers, dissipative four-wave-mixing mode-locking is a promising method. In this work, we demonstrated an HRR pulsed fiber laser based on a virtually imaged phased array (VIPA), serving as a comb filter. Due to the high spectral resolution and low polarization sensitivity features of VIPA, the 30 GHz pulse with high quality and high stability could be obtained. In the experiments, both the single-waveband and dual-waveband HRR pulses were achieved. Such an HRR pulsed fiber laser could have potential applications in related fields, such as optical communications.

为了使光纤激光器同时运转在不同的工作状态, 搭建了非线性偏振旋转(NPR)技术和碳纳米管可饱和吸收体(CNT-SA)混合的掺铒光纤激光器。其中, 基于NPR效应的腔内双折射引入的梳状滤波器可以实现双波长输出, NPR和CNT-SA的可饱和吸收效应共同作用可以获得调Q或调Q锁模脉冲, 因此在该激光器中通过调节参数可以使光纤激光器同时获得双波长调Q和调Q锁模脉冲输出。该双波长脉冲经滤波处理后, 观察到1531.23 nm处的波长对应调Q脉冲, 其重复率为45.62 kHz, 1557.18 nm处的波长对应调Q锁模, 调Q包络重复率也为45.62 kHz, 包络内锁模脉冲的重复率为18.18 MHz, 与激光器腔长相符。该实验结果增强了光纤激光器工作的灵活性, 有望进一步拓展其在相关领域的应用。

回顾了锁模光纤激光器中各种孤子动力学特性的研究状况,介绍了近年来基于色散傅里叶变换(DFT)技术的超快光纤激光器孤子瞬态动力学特性的研究进展,分析了同时利用时间透镜和DFT技术的超快现象多尺度探测,这些均有助于更全面地了解光孤子的物理本质。实时测量技术的发展必将极大地激发研究人员探索孤子动力学特性的热情,进一步促进孤子动力学特性研究和超快激光技术的发展。

1.0 μm波段的超短脉冲激光器在激光加工、光学精密测量和生物医学等领域具有重要应用价值, 但由于掺镱光纤激光器工作在全正色散区域, 激光器直接输出的脉冲通常宽度较大。文中利用改变微纳光纤尺寸可以使其在1.0 μm波段提供反常色散的特点, 将微纳光纤作为色散补偿元件在掺镱光纤激光器腔外对脉冲进行压缩来获得超短脉冲。实验中, 自主拉制的微纳光纤锥腰直径为3 μm, 锥腰长度为5 cm。掺镱光纤激光器直接输出脉冲宽度为37.6 ps, 经微纳光纤压缩后脉冲宽度为8.5 ps。该结果提供了一种更简便低廉的压缩脉冲方法。

As the typical material of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), few-layered MoS2 possesses broadband saturable absorption and a large nonlinear refractive index, which could be regarded as a promising candidate for dual-function photonic device fabrication. In this work, the coexistence of a bound soliton and harmonic mode-locking soliton was demonstrated in an ultrafast fiber laser based on a MoS2-deposited microfiber photonic device. Through a band-pass filter, each multi-soliton state was investigated separately. The bound soliton has periodic spectral modulation of 1.55 nm with a corresponding pulse separation of 5.16 ps. The harmonic mode-locking soliton has the repetition rate of 479 MHz, corresponding to the 65th harmonic of the fundamental repetition rate. The results indicated that there exist more possibilities of different multi-soliton composites, which would enhance our understanding of multi-soliton dynamics.

由于其独特的光电特性, 黑磷量子点(BPQDs)获得研究者们的广泛关注。将基于微纳光纤沉积BPQDs的光子器件接入掺铒光纤激光腔内, 利用其可饱和吸收特性和高非线性效应分别获得了单、双波长脉冲簇现象。在单波长脉冲簇状态下, 每簇脉冲包含9个脉冲, 各脉冲之间具有不同的时间间隔; 在双波长脉冲簇状态下, 每个波长分别对应一套脉冲簇序列, 两套脉冲簇序列具有不同的强度和时间间隔。该结果有助于加深人们对多波长光纤激光器及脉冲簇动力学的理解, 也证明了BPQDs可以作为性能优良的可饱和吸收体应用于超快光学领域。

We report on the generation of Q-switched and Q-switched mode-locked (QML) pulses in an erbium-doped fiber ring laser by using a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) -based gold nanorod (GNR) saturable absorber (SA). The PVA-based GNR SA has a modulation depth of 4.8% and a non-saturable loss of 26.9% at 1.5 μm. A Q-switched pulse train with a repetition rate varying from 18.70 to 39.85 kHz and a QML pulse train with an envelope repetition rate tuning from 20.31 to 31.50 kHz are obtained. Moreover, the lasing wavelengths of the Q-switched pulses can be flexibly tuned by introducing a narrow bandwidth, tunable filter into the laser cavity. The results demonstrate that the GNRs exhibit good optical performance and can find a wide range of applications in the field of laser technology.
