摘要
通过同时抑制受激布里渊散射和自脉冲效应,实现了具有窄线宽和近衍射极限光束质量的高功率、线偏振全光纤放大器,其最高输出激光功率为2.62 kW,光光效率达到了86.7%,光束质量M2、偏振消光比及光谱线宽在放大过程中基本保持不变,M2小于1.3,偏振消光比约为96.3%,3 dB线宽为32 GHz,20 dB二阶矩线宽为30 GHz。2.62 kW是目前报道的窄线宽线偏振全光纤结构激光器能达到的最高输出功率。
Abstract
We demonstrate a high-power, linearly polarized all-fiber amplifier with a narrow linewidth and near-diffraction-limit beam quality by suppressing the stimulated Brillouin scattering and self-pulsing effects simultaneously. The maximum laser power is 2.62 kW with 86.7% optical-optical efficiency. Beam quality (M2), polarization extinction ratio (PER), and linewidth are well maintained during power amplification with M2<1.3, PER ~96.3%, a 3 dB linewidth of 32 GHz, and a 20 dB second-order moment linewidth of 30 GHz. To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest demonstration of an all-fiber laser with narrow linewidth, linear polarization, and beam quality near the diffraction limit.

采用多路光纤激光进行光谱合成(SBC)或相干合成(CBC)可以在保持良好光束质量的同时提升激光器系统的输出功率[1-2]。高功率全光纤窄线宽线偏振激光器在SBC和CBC中发挥着独特的作用。尤其是对于CBC系统,不仅要求光纤激光器输出为线偏振,而且对激光器的线宽有着较为严苛的要求,线宽越窄,对应的相干长度越长,越有利于对光程进行精确控制。不同于其他类型的窄线宽光纤种子源(如单频[3]、光纤振荡[4]、超荧光[5]等种子源),基于单频相位调制的种子源具有受激布里渊散射(SBS)及受激拉曼散射(SRS)阈值高、线宽在放大过程中保持不变等优点[6]。到目前为止,基于单频相位调制的窄线宽非保偏近衍射极限全光纤激光器已经实现了3 kW(48 GHz) [7]和3.7 kW(80 GHz) [6]输出。然而,相比于非保偏光纤激光器,窄线宽保偏光纤激光器具有更低的SBS和模式不稳定(MI)阈值,实现高功率输出更为困难。2017年,国防科技大学实现了2.43 kW的全光纤窄线宽线偏振激光输出,线宽为68 GHz(相干长度只有0.44 cm) [8]。2018年,美国IPG公司实现了2 kW全光纤窄线宽线偏振激光输出,线宽为30 GHz (0.11 nm,相干长度1 cm),光束质量因子M2约为1.1,功率的继续提升会受限于MI效应[9]。2019年,中国工程物理研究院应用电子学研究所采用白噪声(WNS)相位调制技术实现了1.5 kW全光纤线偏振激光输出,线宽为13 GHz(0.05 nm,相干长度2.3 cm),M2约为1.14,功率的继续提升会受限于自脉冲及SBS效应[10]

最近,中国工程物理研究院应用电子学研究所基于WNS相位调制进一步优化光谱线宽,基于反向抽运结构(反向比正向抽运具有更高的SBS及自脉冲阈值[10]),采用全光纤结构实现了2.62 kW近衍射极限线偏振激光输出。基于单频激光相位调制的保偏全光纤放大器结构如图1所示。单频种子源由华南理工大学提供,功率约为20 mW,线宽为kHz量级。单频种子源经过基于WNS加载的相位调制器后,光谱可展宽至30 GHz左右,再通过两级保偏预放大器后种子激光功率可被放大至7 W,之后经过保偏模场适配器(PM-MFA)及保偏包层功率剥离器(PM-CPS)后被注入保偏主放大器中。保偏主放大器采用保偏(6+1)×1合束器将波长锁定的976 nm泵浦光注入纤芯和包层直径分别为20 μm和400 μm的双包层掺镱保偏光纤(PMYDF)中,放大器输出的激光经过PM-CPS后,由自研的保偏光纤端帽输出。

保偏主放大器输出功率的测试结果如图2所示,总泵浦功率为3.02 kW时,激光输出功率为2.62 kW,光光效率达到了86.7%。在整个放大过程中,M2、偏振消光比及光谱线宽基本保持不变,偏振消光比约为96.3%。图2(a)中的插图显示的是激光功率为2.54 kW时M2的测量结果,xy方向M2分别为1.22和1.29。图3显示了放大器回光功率随激光功率的变化,当激光功率最高时,检测到的回光功率约为64 mW,尚未达到非线性增长阈值。如图3中的插图所示,输出激光功率最高时的3 dB线宽为32 GHz (0.12 nm,相干长度0.94 cm),20 dB二阶矩线宽为30 GHz (0.11 nm)。此外,输出激光中未发现SRS、自发辐射及泵浦光成分。该保偏光纤放大器系统功率的继续提升主要受限于MI效应(在2.62 kW时发现了MI)。进一步优化种子源调制谱特性及放大器结构,实现更高SBS及MI阈值的窄线宽线偏振光纤激光输出,是本课题组下一步工作的一项重要研究内容。
