Abstract
As a new kind of fiber, index-guiding photonic crystal fibers offer an attractive supplement to conventional fibers for both telecommunication and sensor applications due to their many unusual properties. In this paper, we introduce the waveguide theory and the fabrication of the fibers, as well as the new developments and the relate applications.
